What SnapIdentify does
SnapIdentify provides browser-based AI tools for identifying visible subjects. The universal identifier can examine many categories. Specialist identifiers focus on the anatomy, structure, habitat, markings, and lookalikes that matter for a particular subject such as a bug, spider, or plant.
A clear answer identifies the subject only as precisely as the image allows. When species, model, variety, age, origin, or material cannot be supported, the result should remain at a broader and more defensible level.
Visible evidence
Results point to shapes, markings, body parts, materials, textures, labels, or contextual clues visible in the photograph.
Honest uncertainty
A blurred, distant, damaged, obstructed, or ambiguous image should receive a lower-confidence answer and better-photo advice.
Safety-aware guidance
The tools avoid unsupported claims about edibility, toxicity, medical risk, harmlessness, authenticity, legality, or value.
How specialist identifiers improve a result
Different subjects require different evidence. A plant identifier considers growth habit, leaf arrangement, veins, flowers, fruit, bark, and location. A spider identifier considers body regions, leg proportions, markings, eye arrangement when visible, web structure, and geographic range. What confidence labels mean
High confidence means several distinctive clues support one leading match.
Moderate confidence means the leading match fits, but similar alternatives remain plausible.
Low confidence means the image lacks enough detail for a reliable exact answer.
Confidence labels are qualitative. They are not calibrated probabilities, guarantees, or substitutes for physical examination.
What an AI identification cannot establish
A photograph cannot reliably establish mushroom edibility, plant toxicity, medical diagnosis, bite cause, animal behavior, electrical safety, legal status, authenticity, ownership, age, or market value. Important decisions require an appropriate professional, authoritative reference, laboratory test, or physical inspection.
Privacy and image processing
Uploaded images are validated, normalized, and processed for the requested identification. SnapIdentify does not intentionally create a public image URL or write the image to local application storage. The configured AI provider processes the normalized image under its service terms. Corrections and feedback
